Independent oil distribution company Oil 4 Wales has launched a new fuel depot in west Wales.
The company, founded by Colin Owens formerly of Owen Fuels, has opened a 300,000-litre depot in Felinfach, Ceredigion in order to expand its services across mid and west Wales.
The new depot is part of a strategic move to help reduce logistics costs and increase efficiency in servicing customers across Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.
Oil 4 Wales has entered into a ten year lease agreement with Clynderwen & Cardiganshire Farmers (CCF) to lease the site for the depot. This arrangement is part of a wider partnership with CCF which sees Oil 4 Wales supply oil to farmers that are part of the co-operative.
The family run company, which supplies a range of fuel services to homes, businesses, commercial premises, agricultural and retail customers, has been well supported since its launch in 2011 by those keen to see the success of a truly independent Welsh oil brand. It now supplies over 16,000 customers in Wales and is on course to turnover £110m in its third year.
Managing director Colin Owens said: “When we established Oil 4 Wales, we did so with the aim of creating a truly Welsh oil brand that focused on giving a good deal to the communities of Wales.
“By opening this new depot in FelinFach, we are able to reduce our logistics costs which in turn benefits our customers who gain from these savings. It also allows us to deliver a better and more efficient service to customers in the local area.
“As we continue to grow our presence across Wales in our aim of becoming the national oil brand for Wales, our buying power and truly Welsh focus means that the local community will get a much fairer price for its fuel. We’re delighted to open our new Felinfach depot and look forward to getting to know the local community in West Wales.”
With a strong affiliation with Welsh rugby, the new depot was opened by rugby stars Shane Williams who has just returned from Japan, Dan Lydiate and Dafydd Jones. Originally from Aberaeron in West Wales, Dafydd Jones said: “It was great to open Oil 4 Wales’ new depot and meet some of our fans. It’s a fantastic company to be involved with as like us rugby players they are truly passionate about Wales and serving the Welsh community. I love what the company stands for and being born and bred in West Wales, it is great to see their growth in this area.”
