R&D Machinery, a supplier of new and used agricultural and construction machinery across the South West, is expanding its depot network with a new facility on Westpark 26 in Wellington.
The company, a main dealer for Manitou and Kuhn machinery, already has two well-established depots at Totnes in Devon and Bodmin in Cornwall and has expanded into new markets including the industrial, access, rail and waste and recycling sectors.
With growing demand from a wide range of clients across Somerset, the company is now ready to open its third depot.
It has agreed a new 10 year lease with Summerfield Developments (SW) Ltd on Unit D3, a newly built 2,583 sq ft trade/roadside unit in the heart of the 40 acre business park.
Paul Deeble, managing director of R&D Machinery, said: “Opening a new depot on Westpark 26 is fundamental to us delivering a quality service to clients along the M5 corridor. Our mobile technicians will be able to cover this part of the region very efficiently, and with a large stock of spare parts both in the depot and on our service vehicles, we will be in a good position to maintain our reputation for a quality fix on our first visit.”
Ben Trickey of Summerfield Developments (SW) Ltd said: “Summerfield are delighted to welcome R&D Machinery to Westpark and our line-up of trade counter occupiers. Unit D3’s location and prominence should suit their business well and we wish them every success with this new depot.”
Property consultants Alder King and JLL acted for Summerfield in the transaction.
Alder King partner Andrew Maynard said: “Demand for new-build trade counter units in such a supply-constrained market remains extremely robust. The newly-built Blocks C and D – totalling just over 20,750 sq ft – are already circa 88% occupied with a first class portfolio of tenants including ToolStation, Screwfix, Service Graphics and Riverford Organic Farmers. With Unit D2 also now let, this leaves just Unit D1 (approx. 2,576 sq ft) available.”
Westpark 26 is a 40 acre mixed use business park on the A38 in Wellington, a short distance from Junction 26 of the M5 at Chelston, Wellington. As well as a large number of SMEs, Westpark 26 is home to a pub, a Travelodge, a gym, a petrol station, a Costa Coffee drive-thru and a McDonalds restaurant.
