Caddick Construction has been appointed as the main contractor to deliver a new 62,286 SQ ft parcel distribution centre for national carrier DPD. The contractor will be on site by mid-November, starting a build programme which is anticipated to last 10 months. This should see practical completion reached in August 2023.
The move follows the announcement last month that Kingmoor Park Properties had secured planning permission for the new facility at its K2 development. K2 is the new home for large occupiers looking for industrial and logistics space at the hugely successful Carlisle Kingmoor Park, adjacent to J44 of the M6.
DPD currently occupies a 42,195 sq ft unit at Kingmoor Park but has signed a new lease on this larger, design and build facility to meet its need for more space. The new distribution centre will accommodate 20 HGVs and 181 vans. It will be sustainably built and have an EPC rating of ‘A’. 10 of the car parking spaces will be allocated for car sharing, while electric vehicle charging points will be provided for some of the car and van parking spaces.
