Trebor Developments LLP and Hortons’ Estate Limited have agreed terms with Staffordshire County Council to purchase a highly visible site located next to the M6 Toll Road near Cannock, known as The Triangle Site, which extends to circa 3.45 acres, where the development partnership propose to bring forward the site for a major multi-million pound retail and mixed use development.
The development will consist of a number of buildings located around a central access and parking facilities and it is envisaged that a planning application in relation to the development will be submitted in the Spring. Subject to consent, the scheme will commence on site in 2013.
This is another major acquisition/development scheme for the Trebor/Hortons’ joint venture, following the success of Hagley Road Retail scheme in 2011 and commencement on site of works at Princess Alice Drive Retail Park, Sutton Coldfield, which will also see a range of retail units delivered over the next 12 months.
In a market where there is so little commercial development taking place in the West Midlands, Trebor/Hortons’ remain one of the most active developers within the region and it is understood that announcements will follow shortly regarding key tenants secured in relation to this new Cannock development.
Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner for Trebor Developments, commented on behalf of the JV:
“We are delighted to have agreed terms with Staffordshire County Council for the acquisition of this high profile and strategic site and we look forward to working with the local authority, in partnership, to clear the technical aspects and planning required to bring the site forward for development. We are confident that this development will equally match the high success of our similar retail led developments over the last 2 years and attract quality retail tenants who appreciate the ability of Trebor and Hortons’ to deliver outstanding schemes in prominent locations.”
Trebor/Hortons’ are represented by Wright Silverwood as letting agents for the scheme and the Council were represented by JLL in relation to the site disposal.
