Evelyn Partners, the leading wealth management and professional services group created from the merger of Tilney and Smith & Williamson has taken 30,000 sq. ft. of space at HFD Group’s flagship 177 Bothwell Street office development in Glasgow.
The move by Evelyn Partners will bring together 350 staff from two locations in the city to one highly efficient, sustainable office, supporting its ambitious growth plans in Scotland. The new Glasgow operation will be the group’s largest in the UK, outside of its London headquarters.
The latest deal follows HFD Group’s announcement in April that it would relocate its own headquarters to the top floor of 177 Bothwell Street. The development’s occupiers include Virgin Money, BNP Paribas, AECOM, CBRE, and Transport Scotland, while HFD’s technology business DataVita will also operate from the building.
A highly sustainable office development, 177 Bothwell Street’s energy is supplied by Blantyre Muir Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire, ensuring it is 100% renewable from an identified local source. It has achieved a market-leading EPC rating of ‘A’ and is also targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard.
177 Bothwell Street is the first Scottish property to commit to attaining the new SmartScore accreditation for smart buildings and has already achieved a ‘Platinum’ WiredScore certification, a standard recognising that future occupiers will have the best connectivity available.
The building features a rooftop terrace and running track, 318 cycle spaces, electric vehicle charging points, and touchless technology throughout. An independent economic impact assessment concluded that the 315,000 sq. ft. development will generate £2.8 billion of gross value added (GVA) to the Scottish economy over 25 years.
Paul Frame, Regional Managing Partner for Scotland and Northern Ireland at Evelyn Partners, said: “We are excited to have agreed a lease for 177 Bothwell Street. Our new offices will provide a first-class working environment for our staff based in Glasgow and supports our ambitious plans for continued expansion in Scotland. The building’s location in the city centre, close to excellent transport links, makes it convenient for our clients to meet with our specialist teams and attend events.”
Stephen Lewis, MD of HFD Property Group, commented: “Evelyn Partners is a great addition to our occupier line-up at 177 Bothwell Street – we look forward to welcoming the team to the building, once their fit-out work has completed. The strength and depth of our occupiers underlines the quality of 177 Bothwell Street, particularly its sustainability and wider ESG features, with so many blue chip, forward-thinking brands planning to operate from the building.”
