One of the BBC’s dragons has helped breathe new life into a digital photo service managed by a Warwickshire firm.
CeWe Color is the UK arm of Europe’s leading photo processing company and had overseen Jessops’s online photo service before the high-street retailer went into administration.
But after entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones bought the brand and certain of the assets of Jessops out of administration an agreement was reached with CeWe which will now continue with the online photoshop operation.
Robert Lee, from solicitors Wright Hassall, advised CeWe Color and helped to convince their German board to back the acquisition. Working alongside the other advisers, the Wright Hassall team worked round the clock to ensure a deal could be done.
He said: “There is always a lot more pressure in terms of time when it comes to dealing with a company that is in administration.
“Luckily we have an experienced and flexible team that is used to working in such conditions and we were able to complete the deal in just six days – during two of which we worked right through the night.”
Duncan Midwood, managing director of CeWe Color, said: “CeWe, who previously managed the Jessops Photo service, will carry on running the business with entrepreneur Peter Jones going forward, providing customers with the same great photo service that they have always enjoyed.
“It is great news and a really positive step which should reassure Jessops Photo customers that it’s very much business as usual.
“As a thank-you for the continued trust shown by Jessops Photo customers, I would encourage everyone to visit the website where, for a limited time, there is a great ‘welcome back’ offer.”
