Two new recruits to one of the UK’s major land promoters and developers are buzzing with excitement about their new roles.
Marcus Hill, who keeps bees in his spare time and has 20 beehives, has been appointed Principal Designer at L&Q Estates, which is based at Tachbrook Park in Warwick.
He has been joined in the construction team by Jack Wilkins, who competes in club level motorsport across the UK, to grow the department to a 14-strong team.
Marcus joined Entec UK 20 years ago as a drainage engineer which was then acquired by AMEC, a business that subsequently merged with Wood.
The 50-year-old, who plays lead clarinet with Bromyard Symphonic Wind Band and lead alto saxophone with the West Midlands Light Orchestra, said: “I work with designers on every project that L&Q Estates is undertaking to ensure health and safety risks are being minimised via good design practice.
“It is important to make sure that when designing for future homes and communities, we do all we can to eliminate and reduce risk at the design stages, to ensure we ultimately provide safe and healthy environments for future residents to live, work and play in for many years to come.
“I am currently working on residential developments across the UK including Wixams in Bedfordshire, and Northstowe and St Neots in Cambridgeshire.
“There is a lot of variety. Every project has unique challenges which makes the work really interesting.”
Jack Wilkins has been appointed as Project Engineer. The 23-year-old started his career with Barratt Homes as a trainee engineer, while studying for a Degree in Construction Management at the University of Bedfordshire, before securing his new role at L&Q Estates.
He said: ‘’Having worked closely with the L&Q Estates throughout my time with Barratt Homes, I have always been impressed by the wealth of experience and expertise on offer and am pleased to have joined the team at such a prosperous time for the business.
‘’As part of the Technical and Construction team, I am responsible for overseeing the delivery of site-wide strategic infrastructure, providing fully serviced, ‘’oven-ready’’ land for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
‘’I will continue to work on the Wixams development in Bedfordshire together with Northstowe and St Neots.’’
