St. Modwen Logistics, a leading logistics developer and manager, is continuing to support the growth of global logistics and supply chain management giant, DB Schenker. The business has taken its third sustainable St. Modwen Logistics building, located in the South-West, allowing it to meet additional capacity requirements due to the growing needs of its customers.
The expansion is expected to create a further 20 jobs, following the creation of 130 jobs at its existing sites, bringing the total number employed in the UK & Ireland business to 2000 people.
The company’s latest 27,000 sq ft building, at St. Modwen Park Access 18 in Avonmouth, became operational in April 2022. It provides DB Schenker with the additional, modern space needed to facilitate the further growth of its Air & Ocean Divisions, whilst providing additional capacity for the growing needs of its customers. The business already operates from two St. Modwen Logistics parks across the UK – a 150,000 sq ft unit at St. Modwen Park Tamworth and a 60,000 sq ft unit at St. Modwen Park Doncaster.
Polly Troughton, Managing Director at St. Modwen Logistics, said: “At St. Modwen Logistics we are committed to helping our customers secure the space they need to succeed. DB Schenker is experiencing rapid growth across the UK and it’s fantastic that we were able to accommodate their requirement for an additional, modern, sustainable facility in Avonmouth, helping to meet growing customer needs in the region, and supporting their sustainability goals.
“We continue to experience an increased demand for warehouse space in the South-West. St. Modwen Park Access 18, in Avonmouth, is strategically placed close to major transportation networks, making the location very appealing.”
Eoghan Turner, Head of Real Estate UK & Ireland at DB Schenker, added: “We are delighted to complete on the leasing of our new facility at Access 18, allowing us to continue with the growth of our Air & Ocean Divisions in the UK.
“The new Bristol facility is one of a number of sites planned in 2022 across the UK and Ireland, as we continue our investment in best-in-class, state-of-the-art, sustainable facilities to accommodate the growing needs of our clients both locally and globally.”
DB Schenker, part of the German company Deutsche Bahn, invests in sustainability, placing this at the heart of the decision-making process for all new sites. The new unit at St. Modwen Park Access 18 will deliver EPC A and BREEAM Good ratings and incorporates several sustainable elements, including photovoltaic solar panels and Electric Vehicle charging points to reduce energy demand, costs, and carbon impact for the customer. St. Modwen Logistics has an ambition to achieve 10% bio-diversity net gains on its new developments and, therefore, biodiversity has been widely considered at the site, with mature landscaping and water features offering a valuable habitat for wildlife.
