Cribbs Causeway has begun the year with three new lettings, signing footwear and accessories favourite, Kurt Geiger, and sister brand Carvela, as well as Slim Chickens to units in The Mall. The lettings follow on from over 30,000 sq ft of new occupational deals over the course of 2021, including to stores such as H beauty, Tommy Hilfiger, Bremont and Ribble Cycles, as the centre further bolsters its position as the key trading location for the South West.
Originating in London, Kurt Geiger values itself on being inclusive, and encouraging people to be confident and ‘truly themselves’. It has been designing for over 50 years, creating handbag and shoe styles for men and women. Kurt Geiger opened its 2,379 sq ft store on the lower level next to JD in March.
Meanwhile, Carvela will occupy a 1,622 sq ft unit, near to the centre of the Mall, by June 2022, offering a range of styles and accessories, including trainers, heels and ankle boots along with bags, phone cases and sunglasses.
Slim Chickens, which originated in Arkansas, USA, in the noughties, started a UK roll out in 2018. It specialises in fresh chicken cooked to order, with homemade sauces and salads and will sit amongst a suite of family dining peers at the heart of The Mall when it opens in June 2022.
Colin Flinn, spokesperson for The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, said: “The strength of bigger regional retail centres in strategic, accessible locations is clear to see and Cribbs is benefiting from significant ongoing levels of occupier interest with occupancy hitting 96%. With 30,000 sq ft of lettings last year to lifestyle, beauty and accessories businesses, The Mall continues to expand and broaden its retail and restaurant offer which delivers the experiential proposition that modern physical retail demands.
“Cribbs is the crossroads of the South West, bolstered by the opening of the nearby Planet Ice rink in the latter part of 2021. With significant new development taking place across the area supported by growth in the wider local population base in this part of Bristol, the retailer community is undoubtedly recognising the trading opportunity Cribbs provides as physical store portfolios are refined to meet the needs of post-pandemic shoppers.”
Ross Warden, Retail Director at Kurt Geiger and Carvela, said: “On behalf of Kurt Geiger and Carvela, we are excited to be joining Cribbs Causeway’s retail scene as we continue to expand our stores across the UK. We thoroughly look forward to welcoming our customers in Bristol to these two new concepts.”
The Mall is at the heart of Cribbs Causeway community and home to more than 150 shops and restaurants. Employing over 6,000 people from within a 20-mile radius, The Mall also serves both local and national businesses by providing a major regional hub for UK and international retailers.
Time Retail Partners and Cushman & Wakefield are The Mall at Cribbs Causeway’s retained letting agents.
