South West developer and property company Summerfield recently co-hosted the inaugural Taunton Boules Tournament with the Taunton Chamber of Commerce. The two organisations teamed up to host the event at Kings College to bring businesses in the area together and to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
“The event was well attended and was a great way for a spectrum of companies to mix and meet”, said Ben Trickey of Summerfield. “The games were played on the cricket pitch under a bright sky with good spirits and an edge of competition. K Signs battled their way through the early stages and ground down Clarke Willmott Grenouilles (Frogs) in the final to win the Cup, whilst Greenslade Taylor Hunt nudged aside the combined team of Ink2U / Kings College for the Plate.”
The event will be staged again next year and the organisers are already looking at ways to make it bigger and better. “Huge thanks to Jane Burden of the Taunton Chamber of Commerce for her considerable part in organising this year’s event and for making it such a success, and to the others who helped out on the day. With a contribution from Summerfield and some other generous donations added in, we have raised over £450 for CLIC Sargent whilst getting everyone together for a great afternoon.” commented Ben Trickey.
Summerfield and Taunton Chamber of Commerce reported that they have had lots of positive feedback and some good suggestions about ways to build on this first event. Plans are now afoot to repeat and improve on the tournament for next year.”
