One of the most famous faces on television news in the Midlands was the first guest speaker of 2013 at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce’s Business is Good for Women events.
Experienced broadcaster Llewela Bailey gave an interesting and informative talk packed with anecdotes from her 30-year career in the industry at a networking lunch.
She spoke of her enjoyment working in radio at BBC stations in Northampton and Nottingham for ten years before joining ITV Central as a sub-editor.
Llewela then teamed up with Bob Warman to form one of the most recognisable news presenting teams in the Midlands for nearly 20 years.
She entertained around 50 women at the Chamber event, hosted at Triton Showers in Nuneaton by its managing director Lorna Fellowes, with stories of her time behind and in front of the camera.
Angela Tellyn, of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said it had been an extremely interesting talk to kick-off the 2013 Business is Good for Women events.
“Llewela was a fascinating speaker and had a wealth of funny and interesting stories to tell the audience from her time in radio and television,” she said.
“She gave a real insight into the life of reporters and presenters who bring us the daily news as well as some of the characters she met through her time on Central News.
“I could have listened to her stories for hours and the feedback we received from those who attended was extremely positive.
“Llewela, like many women at the event, is now embarking on a new career since she is a director of Prominent Media and Communications which involves producing and presenting corporate videos, media training and compering.
“We hope these events provide inspiration for women across Coventry and Warwickshire who are running their own businesses as well as giving them the opportunity to network with fellow Chamber members.”
