Gordon Hewling, Avison Young, Principal and Managing Director of the firm’s Newcastle office, has announced that Chris Turnbull has been named Avison Young Principal based in the firm’s Newcastle office.
Chris joins more than 51 Principals that are being honoured as part of the Avison Young Principal Class of 2022. Avison Young is a principal-led, people-first firm with more than 650 Principals across the globe. As a private company, these Principals are industry leaders who exemplify the partnership structure, collaborative culture, and client-first mentality.
Chris has been with the company for 3 years and specialises in Project Management across various sectors including commercial offices and hotels. Chris is currently delivering Pilgrim Street, one of the most significant regeneration projects in the northeast, with over 1 million sq ft of development across three city centre blocks. Truly understanding clients’ requirements is at the heart of his work – he leads by example, collaborates effectively and applies innovative thinking to help solve complex project issues.
“Since joining Avison Young, Chris has continued to demonstrate the qualities that first attracted us to him. His technical ability is a given, with an understanding of how to manage complex projects and run diverse teams. More importantly, he has excellent client care and business development skills which, allied with a commercial approach, have enabled him to develop existing clients and attract new clients to the business.” said Hewling
“His ability fits well within our Principal-owned and -led business, which helps us to drive economic, environmental and social value. A great example is Pilgrim Street in Newcastle, where our inputs to the scheme will help attract over £200m GVA per annum and reset the city centre for further growth.” added Hewling.
Chris comments:” I am delighted with the promotion, which is testament to the progress achieved at Pilgrim Street and upon other projects UK wide. I am excited to be involved at Pilgrim Street, one of the largest projects in the North East. I look forward to the many challenges which will arise as the many phases of the regeneration project move forward to fruition,”
