A Willmott Dixon South West employee has been highly commended at the national final of the Constructing Excellence Awards 2012, after being nominated in the Outstanding Young Achiever category.
The annual Constructing Excellence Awards are now in their sixth year and have become one of the leading built environment awards in the UK. They are unique both in terms of coverage and format.
Willmott Dixon employee Richard David, 29 from Bristol, was nominated after scooping the same award at the South West regional final. He was highly commended for his contribution to the award-winning Weston-super-Mare Town Hall, as well as his Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) scholarship work for which he wrote a paper entitled ‘Procurement and contract choice: a contributor to contract failure?’ which he then presented to parliament.
Richard said: “Being recognised by my peers in the construction industry is a real honour. The competition for this award was tough and it feels fantastic to be highly commended.
“Presenting my work to parliament was definitely a highlight of my career. The CIOB paper was something I worked very hard on and it was good to have it acclaimed professionally.”
