CSI, one of the largest industrial storage and solutions businesses in the UK, has today announced that it is on target for 144% growth in the e-commerce section of the business, CSI Products, in 2012.
Since the launch of the website in 2009, CSI Products has seen remarkable growth, now offering over 15,000 products across six websites, achieving a turnover in 2011 of £525K and currently on target to achieve a turnover of £1.3 million in 2012.
Robert Kennedy, managing director of CSI, said, “The website was launched in 2009 during the recession with a relatively small amount of investment. In this time, it has developed and become a key part of the overall CSI business; it has been a phenomenal addition and given us a geographic spread we only dreamt of a few years ago when we worked out of a catalogue in a traditional sales manner.”
“Year on year we have experienced encouraging growth figures and this year we have seen a growth spurt of 144%, we are on target to reach our £1.3 million sales target by the end of 2012. We are a UK based company with 30% of sales coming from Greater London and 25% from Manchester and Liverpool.
“We can pinpoint this growth to the mounting success of our dedicated micro-sites through which we offer advice during periods of adverse weather conditions and provide regular updates from the Met office. We also give advice regarding our winter maintenance and flood prevention and protection products and what would help communities best during difficult conditions.
“Products like our hydro-sacks and hydro-snakes which are a modern, environmentally friendly take on sand-bags, as well as salt spreaders and grit bins have been flying out the door with preparations for a harsh winter well under-way since autumn.
“The e-commerce business started with one staff member and has now increased to seven; this figure is projected to grow as the effects of our rebrand take place.”
The e-commerce business was launched in 2009 under the CSI Products brand with a £15,000 investment. The company has successfully developed the website over the past three years, and is on course to reach its 2012 target of £1.3 million from online generated sales.
In recognition of its success to date, CSI recently won the High Growth & Innovation Award at the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
The company employs 25 staff members in the central belt, at its Livingston base, and five in Aberdeen; this figure is expected to grow by three in Livingston and three at the Aberdeen base as part of CSI’s plan for strategic growth in the UK into 2013.
CSI Products is the e-commerce section of CSI, which was established earlier this year after the merger and rebrand of two successful businesses, ESE Scotland and CSI Products, making it one of the largest industrial storage and solutions businesses in the UK.
