One of the UK’s top 150 law firms is to relocate its Poole premises within the town.
Property consultants Vail Williams were appointed on behalf of Trethowans Solicitors to acquire new office space in Poole.
Vail Williams advised and negotiated on behalf of Trethowans to acquire the first-floor office in Merchants House, a landmark Grade-A office building.
Merchants House provides four floors of refurbished office accommodation, which was let to Wärtsilä, a global leader in smart technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, in 2020.
Wärtsilä occupy three floors and appointed CBRE to sub-let the first floor, which extends to 5,209 sq ft.
Trethowans is relocating from premises at Parkstone Road.
Bryony Solan, an associate at Vail Williams, based at its Bournemouth office, acted for Trethowans.
She said: “We advised Trethowans on Merchants House, which is in a prime town centre location and close to Poole Quay and the Dolphin Shopping Centre, as well as having the commuting convenience of the nearby railway station and 20 on-site parking spaces.
“The prominence of the building and the profile to Holes Bay Road and Towngate Bridge was an important factor in Trethowans deciding Merchants House was the right office location for them.
“In addition, the refurbished building offers Grade A quality office space which benefits from an energy performance rating of B. The 5,209 sq ft floor will provide a great working environment for in excess of 40 staff at Trethowans.
“We wish Trethowans, a well-respected law firm which we have a great professional working relationship with, every success at their new Poole home.”
Trethowans has been recognised in the latest annual Legal 500, a well-respected research and ranking publication, as a top tier law firm in corporate and commercial, licensing, personal tax, trusts and probate and personal injury and clinical negligence (claimant).
As well as Poole, the firm has offices in Bournemouth, London, Salisbury, Southampton and Winchester.
Mike Watson, Trethowans’ Managing Partner, said: “The relocation to one of the region’s premier buildings is a real statement of our commitment to the Dorset region.
“With offices in both Bournemouth and Poole, we will be well placed to serve the local community and beyond. With built in expansion space we will also be looking to recruit talented lawyers to join us in almost all areas of our business and look forward to welcoming our clients to the new office in February 2022.”
