Matthew Smith, Partner in the Knight Frank Hotels team, said: “Having carried out a confidential marketing campaign we are delighted to announce the sale. The hotel has been in the same family ownership for the past 22 years and our clients Carole & Ian Wootton are now looking forward to a well-deserved retirement.
“This is the third hotel John Mulchandani has purchased through Knight Frank, to include the 78-bedroom Stanton House Hotel Wiltshire, which he purchased earlier this year. The hotel will be operated by Meridian Hotels who have exciting plans for the next phase of the business.
“The sale further demonstrates the demand for hotels that provide a mix of both private leisure and corporate custom, which is being fuelled by the lack of quality hotels currently available for sale.”
Carole Wootton, comments: “Having been in the hotel trade for over 30 years I am obviously sad as it was my life and I loved it, however retirement time has arrived and I wish John & Paul as much success in the Bentley as we have experienced. I personally could not wish this hotel to go to anyone else as I know they will run it with the care and love it deserves.”
Paul Evans, Operations Director for Meridian Hotels, added: “Meridian Hotels is delighted with the acquisition of The Best Western Plus Bentley Hotel and we look forward to bringing our team’s wealth of experience and expertise into the running operation of this flagship hotel in Lincoln.
“It has a great deal to offer both corporate and leisure guests and by bringing some new ideas and a refresh of all bedrooms and public areas, we will maintain the current involvement with the local community that Carole and her team have developed over the years, and look to expand on this going forward.”
Luke Rees, Head of Corporate at Langleys Solicitors in Lincoln acted for the sellers, supported by Kate Hindmarch on the employment side and James Bradley on property aspects. Deepak Manghnani from Adams & Remers acted for the buyer.
