BNP Paribas Real Estate and Storeys Edward Symmons have agreed a lease for the entire 16th and 17th floors of Centre North East, Middlesbrough, to Foster Wheeler Energy Limited on behalf of Commercial Estates Group. Foster Wheeler Energy Limited was represented by commercial property consultancy Vail Williams LLP in the transaction.
Foster Wheeler, a global engineering, procurement and construction company and power equipment supplier, secured the prime office floors within the landmark building, which will be fully refurbished before the company relocates in mid-2013, after signing a 10 year lease.
Paul Richardson of Commercial Estates Group commented: “I would like to welcome Foster Wheeler to Centre North East and their commitment to the building reinforces our belief that Centre North East provides some of the best accommodation available within central Middlesbrough.”
Aidan Baker, director of agency at BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Newcastle office, added: “Middlesbrough is a major centre for the Teesside conurbation and Centre North East is the best known business address within the town centre. The top two floors benefit from spectacular panoramic views of Teeside, this coupled with the central location makes it the ideal business location.”
Jon Tully, director of agency and investment at Storeys Edward Symmons’ Teesside office noted: “Working closely with Foster Wheeler, we were able to deliver the space they required that will be refurbished to their specification, with an expansion option to take the whole of the 15th floor, bringing their total occupation to in excess of 25,000 sq ft.”
Mark Llewelyn Jones, head of Corporate Real Estate at Vail Williams, added: “Working closely with the Commercial Estates Group team we are pleased to have provided a commercial property solution that contributes directly to our clients’ business success.”
John Cumming, General Manager – Teesside Operations, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, said: “Foster Wheeler is pleased to be able to demonstrate our continuing commitment to Middlesbrough and Centre North East provides an excellent opportunity to do this whilst providing the potential accommodation to grow the business further.”
