Romsey-based space solutions company, Spaceway, has continued its mission to help companies across the UK grow despite the difficult economic climate.
Spaceway, based in Abbey Park Industrial Estate, has completed a prestigious project for leading UK plastic injection moulding company, OGM, helping it to “steal a march” on its competitors as the UK climbs out of the double dip recession.
OGM, which produces products for major companies such as Siemens and GE Healthcare, called in Spaceway to assist in the design and layout of the new headquarters it had acquired in Oxford, following continued growth in the face of the recession and increased order volumes from its customers.
The 35,000 sq ft building needed to house a new manufacturing centre, offices and showroom and the space had to be carefully thought out to accommodate the company’s six-metre crane which moves specialist tooling around for the machines.
Spaceway’s team worked tirelessly over a period of 16 weeks to fit out the new manufacturing centre and offices and create a showroom within the reception area, where customers could see samples of OGM’s work. They also built an extension onto the building and fitted it out as a storage facility for the company’s moulding machines.
Paul Wightman, owner of OGM, said: “While there were perhaps other companies offering similar services to Spaceway closer to us, we knew that Spaceway had the expertise and the manpower to get the job done incredibly quickly and efficiently, to the highest standards. Its reputation far exceeds the boundaries of Hampshire.”
Commenting on how the work carried out by Spaceway will make a difference to the bottom line of his company he said: “Having a heritage of over 50 years, we’ve seen the economy rise and fall and our way through more than one recession. What we have learnt during that time is that you must prepare yourself for the upturn and not be afraid to invest. We have done just that with the acquisition of our new building and extension work and how fitting that it is complete just as the Government announced a growth in the GDP. Thanks to the help from Spaceway we are fighting fit for the green shoots to come and have capacity to turn around quality products at greater volumes than many of our competitors.”
Spaceway’s Charlie Jeary added: “Seeing expansion projects such as these reach the finish line is perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of the job. We are incredibly proud to have played a part in such a successful Oxford company’s growth plans and helping it to grow even further through clever use of space planning.”
