Leading commercial property developer, Stoford has commenced work on the new UK headquarters of a Swedish engineering company, which will create a new high-tech innovation hub for metal cutting in the West Midlands.
Metal cutting leader, Sandvik Coromant has signed an agreement for lease with Stoford to deliver the building on a self-contained plot on the A456 Manor Way in Halesowen.
The fit-for-purpose headquarters will deliver a net internal area of 18,015 sq ft and will replace an existing warehouse building with office accommodation that is being demolished.
In addition to providing a high-tech working space, the facility will act as a hub for manufacturing innovation and customer interactions, forming part of the established Sandvik Coromant Center global network.
It will be built to an EPC A-rating and a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’, and will include several sustainable features including photovoltaic roof panels, rainwater harvesting and 26 EV car charging points, with the capacity to offer EV charging for all 130 parking spaces in the future. Significant upgrades will also be made to entrance and access points to the new building.
The development will be Sandvik Coromant’s current address in Halesowen, where it has been based since 1958.

Stoford has appointed Benniman as building contractor to deliver the new development.
