Highways England, advised by Carter Jonas, has secured 15,861 sq ft of office space at 2 City Walk in Leeds on a ten-year lease. Joint letting agents Sanderson Weatherall and Knight Frank advised the landlord, Aegon Asset Management.
Highways England will occupy part of the first and second floor of the landmark development, which provides a total of 64,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation in the South Bank area of Leeds.
The company plans to relocate from its current office Lateral in the city, later this year.
Jason Bedford, Highways England Designated Director said: “We’re delighted to agree a new lease for a new workspace in Leeds city centre which will provide a modern, flexible and agile environment to bring together our own teams and suppliers so we can maintain excellent levels of customer service, delivery and safety for our customers.”
Commenting on the deal, Chris Hartnell, Associate Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas Leeds, said: “Highways England continues to advance new working strategies, and this new space will promote a more flexible and collaborative approach. The office is situated with close proximity to Leeds City Centre and provides an ideal space for the team, one that will help drive efficiencies and enhance employee wellbeing, as they continue to play a vital role in improving our road network, helping to connect communities across the country.”
Richard Dunn, head of agency at Sanderson Weatherall and letting agent at 2 City Walk added, “2 City Walk is a fantastic office building located in one of the city’s newest and most exciting destinations for business and leisure. Its proximity to the motorway network and railway station makes it an ideal base for Highways England. This is the second letting of newly vacant space at the building this year, which is testament to its superb offering and appeal. I’m really pleased to have secured another quality tenant there on behalf of Aegon Asset Management.”
