St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has been given the go ahead to develop a 25 acre residential and employment scheme at Cadley Hill, Swadlincote that will generate hundreds of jobs.
South Derbyshire District Council’s planning committee has granted outline planning permission for the
mixed use development that will deliver up to 215 high quality homes and nine acres of land for small office, light industrial, storage and distribution premises. The proposals also include significant financial contributions to primary school provision and recreation facilities in the area.
More than 300 construction jobs will be generated with the delivery of the houses which will be a mixture of types and sizes. The employment space, which will create around 150 jobs, will sit adjacent to the existing Cadley Hill Industrial Estate to the north of the site. Access to the development would be off the A444 Burton Road, with the employment space separated from the proposed housing by an internal spine road and landscape planting.
Jonathan Green, Development Surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “St. Modwen has worked closely with officers at the local authority to prepare these plans and we are very pleased to receive planning permission.
“The creation of this mixed use development will bring social and environmental benefits to Swadlincote and contribute to South Derbyshire’s long term housing supply.”
