Bristol-based accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP, has announced that it has surpassed its target for 2012 of raising £10,000 for local charity Penny Brohn Cancer Care.
The money raised is sufficient to fund 300 people with cancer to use the charity’s new weekly Treatment Support Clinic, which helps people preparing for, undergoing or recovering from chemotherapy treatments.
Amy Cason, Events and Corporate Manager, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, said: “We are very grateful to all the team at BDO Bristol for their fantastic support. The whole office has been absolutely brilliant, challenging themselves to raise an amazing sum of money in different ways to help people living with cancer.”
Graham Randal, partner at BDO in Bristol said: “Penny Brohn Cancer Care provides an excellent support system for people with cancer in the greater Bristol area. We hope the proceeds raised will go a long way towards assisting with the valuable work the charity is doing in the local community.”
BDO Bristol, which offers its entire staff six paid working days per annum for community volunteering projects and charities, raised a total of £10,250 through a variety of fundraising activities.
These included eight colleagues riding 900 miles down the length of Britain from John o’ Groats to Land’s End, a spinathon at Cabot Circus that saw staff cycle 900+miles in one day on static bikes, participation in the annual Bristol Dragon Boat race and 2012 Chew Valley Bed Race, as well as numerous cake bake sales and dress down days in the office.
