As part of its commitment to a fairer construction sector, Zutec has announced that it has become a member of Building Equality in the UK. Founded in 2015 by Arup, Balfour Beatty and Landlease, Building Equality is an alliance of construction consultants, engineers, developers, contractors and institutions who have joined forces to drive LGBT+ inclusion in the sector. It has a strong presence across the UK, with 60+ organisations regularly participating in joint initiatives to shape an industry that is wholly welcoming, inclusive and supportive of LGBT+ individuals, and society at large.
Commenting on Zutec becoming a member of Building Equality, Gustave Geisendorf, CEO at Zutec, says, “We’re fully committed to Building Equality’s vision and the message it sends to the construction industry. With Pride Month this June, we can spread this message even further. It’s vital that positive change is brought about across the sector so that members of the LGBT+ community feel respected, supported, safe and heard, both on site and off. Sadly, too often this is not the case and this is a small step in making the industry a fairer place for all.”
In addition to Zutec and the alliance’s founders, other members of Building Equality include: AECOM, BAM Construct UK, CIOB, Constructing Excellence in the North East, Danny Sullivan Group, Homes England, Sir Robert McAlpine, Skanska, Turner & Townsend and Willmott Dixon.
