Leading East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has boosted its expert commercial property team in Leicester, after welcoming a new associate and solicitor as part of its continued expansion within the city.
With more than three years’ experience, Ben Cox qualified as a solicitor in September 2019 and joins Nelsons from Wilkin Chapman Solicitors in Lincoln. He specialises in commercial property, with an interest in construction law, and his role at Nelsons will focus on the retail, residential development, industrial, hospitality and charity sectors.
He said: “I am overjoyed to have joined Nelsons, it’s an ambitious and forward thinking firm with a team that genuinely cares about their clients and places them at the heart of everything they do. The firm already has a strong presence and great reputation in Leicester and the wider East Midlands, which is highlighted by its commitment to expansion and growth for each of its offices.
“Starting a new job in the midst of a pandemic could have been a strange feeling. However, joining Nelsons has been made simple due to the expert technology provided by the firm and the warm welcome I’ve received from everyone. Communicating with my new colleagues and clients has been incredibly straight forward, as we’re able to serve clients remotely and securely.
Ben graduated from the University of York in 2016 with a degree in Law (LLB), before going on to complete his LPC and MSc at the University of Law in 2017. He then joined Wilkin Chapman Solicitors as a trainee, where he qualified as a solicitor.
He added: “I decided to specialise in commercial property because of the wide variety of transactions you deal with on a day-to-day basis. One day, you may be working on a large multi-use development and the next, you could be assisting with letting a unit in a large shopping centre. The job is fast-paced and requires a vast range of skills, which keeps the role diverse and exciting.
“This new position will give me the opportunity to enhance my knowledge and build my expertise and network within Leicester and the East Midlands. I am looking forward to developing my relationships with clients and colleagues in the years to come.”
James Coningsby, head of the Leicester commercial property team at Nelsons, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ben to the team. His previous experience within commercial property and real estate has already made him a great asset to the team and we look forward to seeing him flourish in his new role.”
