Staff from the 10 branches of leading South West recruitment agency Concept Staffing, member of the Acorn group, took part in a balloon launch to raise money for three local charities – Bright Futures Project, The Primrose Foundation, and The Children’s Hospice South West.
Each of the branches sold balloons to client companies and job-seekers wishing to support the cause at the cost of £1 per balloon. In total, they released a staggering 1,500 balloons.
The charity effort culminated in a spectacular balloon release event at special sponsor and football team, Plymouth Argyle’s home ground.
Organised by Concept Staffing, the charity challenge is part of the Acorn Group’s 20:20:20 fundraising programme, which marks the company’s 20th birthday with the aim of raising £20,000 for 20 regional charities. Concept branches have managed to raise a total of £1,700 so far.
Supporting the event through balloon donations are a number of Concept’s local client companies including Harrier LLC, Kawasaki, DPD, the Cornish Country Larder, Keith Elliott Constructions, Teonies Cookies and Smurfit Kappa.
Philip Stephenson Coordinator of Plymouth based The Primrose Foundation commented: ‘The Primrose Foundation congratulates the Acorn Group on its 20th anniversary, and we offer our gratitude for choosing us as one of the organisations to benefit from your year-long fund raising drive for charity.’
Mark Geary, Head of Human Resources at Harrier LLC said: ‘We are delighted to support the Acorn Group’s 20:20:20 charity pledge. We have had an excellent relationship with Concept Staffing for the last four years so helping them to support local charities is just the natural continuity of our business relationship.’
Speaking about the success of the balloon launch, Karen Sharpin, Concept Staffing Divisional Manager said: ‘The balloon launch has been a real success. In total we have raised £1,700 that we have split equally between the Primrose Foundation, the Children’s Hospice South West and Bright Futures. A massive thank you to all our clients, candidates and sponsors for their tremendous support.’
