CBRE’s Retail team has been appointed by Sheffield City Council and its Strategic Delivery Partner, Queensberry, as sole leasing agents for the retail element of the Heart of the City scheme, a £470 million scheme designed to transform Sheffield city centre.
Heart of the City is one of Sheffield’s key economic projects and is designed to be a mixed use, vibrant quarter covering 1.5 million square foot of space between Pinstone Street, Barker’s Pool and The Moor.
CBRE will lease the retail element which comprises multiple units across a phased delivery. The first phase of new lettings included Swedish fashion brands Monki and Weekday. The scheme is also home to independent cafe Marmadukes, HSBC and CMS, with New World Trading Company opening next month as well as plans for a new flagship Radisson Blu hotel and new food hall.
Located within the city centre, Heart of the City will deliver an eclectic mix of quality brands, alongside the best local and regional independents, to create a genuine mixed used scheme. The masterplan has been designed to fully enhance and sustain the city’s retail and leisure experience, with new and repurposed buildings lining the streets alongside world class public spaces.
James Fox, Senior Director for Retail at CBRE, commented;
“We are delighted to have been appointed as the sole retail agents on this highly prestigious scheme in Sheffield. It represents the direction of travel for sustainable city centre regeneration with a balance of new and repurposed mixed use buildings. Heart of the City is transforming the city centre into an exciting retail hub combining some of the most historic streets in Sheffield with a host of premium brands and independents, designed to enhance the general experience for a wide range of shoppers.”
