Two of the buildings at Brighton’s newest neighbourhood Edward Street Quarter have reached their highest point in a major milestone for the development.
A building containing homes and office space, together with another accommodating both homes and local amenities have topped out.
Steve Eccles, Project Director at First Base, said: “Topping out two of the buildings was a very exciting step forward for us.
“Brighton’s newest neighbourhood looks set to be completed by early next year and we cannot wait to welcome the community and tenants to this new area, which will provide a home to businesses, residents and cafes, as well as gyms, bars and restaurants.”
Developer First Base said work has already begun on the next stages of Edward Street Quarter, including building The Clubhouse which will feature a stunning roof space with views stretching out towards the sea and pier. Work has also started on Two Edward Square, a contemporary, high specification workspace.
The developer said it was pleased with progress on the site which has been made, despite the challenges posed by operating during the pandemic.
First Base has included design features to boost mental and physical wellbeing, adding to the feelgood factor of working by the sea, along with touchless technology that responds to office working in a post-Covid world.
The development will include three public green spaces, heavily planted with mature trees and an ‘edible’ garden full of herbs, as well as public art.
