Grafton Land & Property has sold a 1.5-acre site in Eastbourne to Barchester Healthcare, which will see the development of a 70-bed care home.
Law firm JMW Solicitors advised Grafton on the deal.
The new 44,000 sq. ft. building has already been granted planning permission and will offer a host of facilities for residents, including a salon and cinema.
Tony Cole, Managing Director of Grafton Land and Property, said: “This deal forms part of a nationwide programme delivering opportunities for modern new build nursing homes – there will be twice as many people aged 85 and over in England in 2030 than there were in 2010.
“It’s vital that homes such as this with large en-suite bedrooms, hairdressers, cinema, laundry and self-contained areas with their own dining rooms and lounges are developed in order to provide excellent care in attractive settings.”
Thomas Pearson, Real Estate Partner at JMW Solicitors, said: “We’re very pleased to have been able to support Grafton on this latest deal – the shortage of care home places in the UK continues to grow so it’s great to be able to help bring suitable sites forward.
“Barchester has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, attractive care homes and I’ve no doubt this newest addition to its portfolio will be no exception.”
Barchester is a leading provider of high-quality care for the elderly, with more than 200 care homes across the UK.
