The former Jewson premises on Winterstoke Road in Weston-super-Mare will re-open shortly as a new Enterprise Rent-A-Car depot.
The car and van hire company has agreed a new 20 year lease for the site after securing permission from Weston Town Council last year. It will now relocate from its current premises on Great Weston Trade Park which it said were no longer fit for purpose.
The 0.88 acre site has been cleared of existing buildings ready to accommodate a large fleet parking area as well as a washing facility, spray booth and small workshop.
Emma Smith of Alder King who negotiated the transaction on behalf of the landlord said: “The site has been inactive for some time since Jewsons vacated it. The letting to Enterprise brings it back into use and will facilitate the continued growth of a successful local business.”
Liam Farbrace, Enterprise’s property, development and facilities manager, said: “We have seen an increased demand for our services in our existing location and had outgrown the facility.
“The new site is a perfect location to further improve our services whilst upgrading the facility. It also has a better geographical location in the town, bringing us a lot more central to residents and other businesses.”
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has over 420 branches across the UK.
Alder King’s building consultancy team project managed the demolition and site clearance works.
