The Queen Street, Cardiff, branch of Barclays Bank is undergoing an almost £1m refurbishment with part being converted to retail.
opco is converting the three storey Barclays Bank building to a shop premises on the ground floor with storage and staff premises in the basement. The upper floors are to be converted into commercial office space.
The £1m scheme, which is being delivered for Cardiff client LEOM LLP, is due for completion in January next year (2013).
opco Managing Director Nigel Coulter said: “This exciting project will rejuvenate and revitalise an iconic building in the centre of Cardiff bringing it back into mixed use as both a centre for high quality retail and prime office use right in the heart of the city.
“The contract is the first for LEOM LLP but certainly not our first in the centre of Cardiff where we have been involved in a whole variety of high profile projects over the past ten years.
“We’re hopeful that on the back of the successful delivery of this contract that we will perhaps be able to secure more work from this client and also others based on the excellence of the completed Barclays Bank conversion.”
