Commercial property consultancy Myddelton & Major has received the respected accolade from Estates Gazette, the weekly ‘bible’ for the UK’s property sector.
The Salisbury-based specialist was named Most Active Agent in the county following a raft of office, retail and industrial deals over the past 12 months.
High-profile deals included the Vitacress letting at Minton Distribution Park at Amesbury, achieving full house at Salisbury Office Park and College Chambers in Salisbury and motor group Foray taking up at High Post Business Park midway between Salisbury and Amesbury.
Other major deals included the freehold sales of two large factories in Westbury to solvents recovery specialist Absolute Solvents and engineering firm Torishima (Europe) and new office lettings at The Crescent, part of the £250m mixed-use business park at Solstice Park, Amesbury.
More than 100 deals were completed by the team, covering 34,374 sq m (370,000 sq ft) of commercial space in Wiltshire – equivalent to four international soccer stadium pitches.
Philip Holford, a partner at Myddelton & Major’s 12-strong commercial property consultancy team, said: “This tremendous accolade from Estates Gazette, the weekly ‘bible’ for the UK’s property sector, is very much testament to the hard work put in by everyone at the team to consistently deliver for clients, often in challenging conditions caused by the global economic headwinds.
“Diligence and reliability are everything, underscored by a personal service.”
Dean Speer, a fellow partner, said: “Our clients, from retailers, offices and factory owners to property investors and international pension funds, rightly have high expectations – they understand and value our collective and individual experience and detailed knowledge of local markets, which translates into results.
“Wiltshire has a lot going for it to attract employers, from official figures citing above-average output per worker to high business start-up and survival rates, with a resident population of 455,000.
“These trends contribute to a low unemployment rate of 3.5% for Wiltshire, compared to 6% in the South West and 7.6% in England, with a number of job-creating developments in the pipeline.”
The agency team includes Simon Lee, MRICS, who leads the retail sector for the firm acting for clients across central southern England on prime shops, and Julian Pepin, MRICS, who joined in 2011. Jody Williams gives “invaluable back-up” as commercial agency administrator.
Clients from the retail, office and industrial sectors have gone on record to praise the commercial property team for a “professional and personable service”.
