Plans have been submitted for the redevelopment of GWS Trading Estate in Wednesbury, West Midlands, at the heart of the Midlands manufacturing hub just off the Black Country New Road.
Birmingham based investor and asset manager Mercia Real Estate acquired the property on Leabrook Road, close to the M6 motorway, in 2019 and has since completed a part disposal and regeared the remaining leases so that the site can now be brought forward for redevelopment.
Subject to planning approval the proposals will see the full demolition of the existing buildings and the subsequent construction of an institutional purpose-built warehouse and distribution unit plus office space, totalling 65,659 sq ft in addition to 128 car parking spaces and 20 cycle spaces.
Samuel Clark, CEO of Mercia Real Estate said: “The proposed new unit will provide an institutional industrial and distribution building within a prime location near to the M6 at the heart of the manufacturing hub of the West Midlands. We anticipate that there will be strong occupier and investor interest in this building once complete.”
