Topland has secured planning permission from Brighton & Hove Council for a new nine-storey, 221-bedroom hotel. Last year, Topland agreed a 35-year index linked lease with Dalata Hotel Group for the hotel to be operated under the Maldron brand.
The new hotel will be built on Cannon Place, part of a wider site owned by Topland Group which also includes the landmark Metropole Hotel, currently leased to Hilton. As part of a major investment in the whole site, Topland will also shortly undertake a significant refurbishment of the Metropole Hotel. Together, both hotels represent a significant improvement to the leisure and conferencing offer in one of the UK’s strongest markets.

To have also secured an operator of Dalata’s calibre is a major sign of confidence in the long term, prospects for the hotel market.
The improvements throughout the entire Cannon Place development are part of Topland’s ongoing commitment to Brighton which, through long-term relationships with both Dalata and Hilton, will bring significant benefits to this key seafront location.”
