Thirdfort, which specialises in providing ultra-secure services to the legal profession, is the latest business to join tech and creative co-working space, Huckletree in Ancoats.
Lawtech startup, Thirdfort, which has developed an app to make it easier for legal professionals and other regulated sectors to securely conduct identity and ‘source of fund’ checks on new clients, has grown from humble beginnings in London to take 24 desks at Huckletree Ancoats; the coworking and growth accelerator space for Manchester’s creative and tech innovation businesses.
Paddy Kennedy, Regional Flexible Workspace Consultant for Colliers International, who advised Thirdfort on the move, said: “I have worked with the team at Thirdfort since they first moved to Manchester in 2019. Since then, they have expanded as a business, gradually acquiring additional space to accommodate their growing team of prop/law tech specialists. Due to the pandemic, I worked closely with Thirdfort to design a creative deal structure that would allow them to align their ambitious growth plans with a practical and cost-effective real estate strategy. Huckletree, with its community of like-minded innovation companies and entrepreneurs, was the perfect fit for the team, as it could accommodate the flexibility and support they required as they work vigilantly towards furthering their growth ambitions as a business.”
Based in Manchester’s iconic Express Building in the Northern Quarter across three floors, Huckletree is home to a community of growing innovation companies in the travel, food, media, and fashion sectors with a unique meditation room, podcast studio, and virtual educational courses to keep members growing. Huckletree’s move to flexible membership packages in 2020 has allowed the site to quadruple its member base by creating workspace solutions that fit around members today, amongst the uncertainty.
Imani Chimo, General Manager from Huckletree welcomed Thirdfort to their ecosystem saying: “We are excited to welcome Thirdfort to our carefully curated member community. Thirdfort’s cutting-edge product and ambitious team make for the exact type of business we look to bring into the space and the broader Huckletree ecosystem. While the pandemic has delayed plans for so many businesses, it is encouraging to see companies expand during this time and continue to see the value of a physical workspace for collaborating, community, team productivity and ultimately their path to growth. We believe that spaces like ours, which provide the physical and community element, alongside access to investment and mentor networks, will be a key part of how businesses transition back to a new sense of normal.”
Olly Thornton-Berry, MD of Thirdfort, added: “We are excited to join the other inspiring and like-minded tech businesses based at Huckletree Ancoats. Manchester is a key market of Thirdfort’s, with many of our clients based in the City and surrounding areas. We grew our Manchester team from 1 to 21 in 2019, and with plans to double it in 2021, Huckletree will provide the space we need to work towards our goal of revolutionising how legal services are delivered and setting the standard in legal security.”
Thirdfort will join established Huckletree members; MuscleFood, Depop, Engine Room, JBH and Regital.
