Seventy representatives from the life sciences sector in Wales fly out to Dusseldorf next week to take part in Medica – the world’s largest event for the medical sector.
It is the largest delegation ever supported by the Welsh Government for a single international trade event and highlights the drive to increase the international profile of the sector through increased trade and export activity.
The four day event ( November 14-17) will feature more than 4,300 exhibitors – from small innovative companies to global players – from seventy countries with over 130,000 visitors expected to attend.
Business Minister Edwina Hart said:” Increased trade and export activity is a key part of the strategy for Welsh Life Sciences to raise its international profile, attract more Life Sciences research and innovation to Wales, and to speed up the bringing of new discoveries to a global market.
“I am delighted to see companies across Wales are backing this approach and taking advantage of Welsh Government support to attend Medica and make the most of the business opportunities it presents. The Welsh Government is committed to making Wales the best possible environment for Life Sciences innovation and business growth and I wish the companies every success in Dusseldorf.”
Thirty five companies and organisations from Wales will be represented at Medica with around eighty meetings arranged between Welsh Government officials and potential inward investment leads.
In addition to Medica, the Welsh Government is leading a multi-sector trade mission to Shanghai and Beijing on November 12, while Welsh food producers are exhibiting as part of the Welsh Government’s Wales the True Taste Pavilion at FHC – Food Hotel China in Shanghai on November 12.
Medica coincides with UK Export Week (November 12-16), a campaign led by UK Trade & Investment and supported by the Welsh Government, to increase the number of British exporters.
The Welsh Government is holding a series of events around Wales to raise awareness of the benefits of trading internationally and the support available to business in Wales.
