Goadsby Planning & Environment acting on a behalf of the new tenants of 25 Jewry Street, Winchester has gained planning permission and listed building consent to create a small piece of Thailand in Winchester.
The new tenants are hoping to set up a new business offering traditional Thai massage, and beauty treatments ranging from traditional pedicures and facials to traditional full body massages.
Gary Palmer, Senior Planner at Goadsby said,
“The premises have been vacant for some time and were last used as a charity shop. Although the proposed use is contrary to the planning policies of Winchester, planning officers are allowed a degree of discretion in the interpretation of these policies. In this case we successfully demonstrated that the proposed use will be of benefit to the area and Winchester as a whole.
“The owners hope to transform these vacant premises so that the customer is immersed in Thai culture once they set foot in the door. They will offer treatments to a wide variety of customers ranging from expectant mothers and babies to men and women. The use will certainly attract shoppers to this part of the town adding vitality and culture.”
Goadsby’s Winchester residential team found the new tenant whilst Goadsby’s CAD services department surveyed the property and prepared the plans to support the applications.
