St. Modwen has delivered the first 106,000 sq ft industrial and logistics unit at St. Modwen Park Chippenham as it continues to bolster its South West portfolio.
The unit forms part of the first phase of development at the 78-acre site, which is strategically located off Junction 17 of the M4 in the heart of the South West logistics triangle, serving the M4 corridor and between Bristol and Swindon.
Once complete, the whole scheme is expected to create around 1,300 jobs as well as skills, training and apprenticeship opportunities working in collaboration with Wiltshire Council and other partners including Wiltshire College during construction. Longer term, St. Modwen Park Chippenham will generate significant inward investment and economic growth for the local area.
St. Modwen has since submitted planning for the second phase to deliver an additional 88,000 sq ft of space due to be delivered in 2021.
Peter Davies, Development Director at St. Modwen Industrial & Logistics, said: “St. Modwen Park Chippenham forms part of our strategy to grow a high-quality industrial and logistics portfolio. The completion of the first phase reaffirms our intention to provide much needed logistics space in the South West, including a range of build-to-suit opportunities ranging from 100,000 to 1 million sq ft. The completed site works mean St. Modwen Park Chippenham is now “oven ready” to accommodate logistics and industrial occupier requirements and to bring St. Modwen’s purpose to life: Changing Places. Creating Better Futures”
Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, added: “We are committed to creating jobs and bringing new opportunities to the area. St. Modwen’s first phase of delivery will help to generate inward investment in the area and put Chippenham on the map as a place to do business.”
Joint agents for the site are Alder King, DTRE and JLL.
