Leaders in infection prevention and control (IPC) solutions, GAMA Healthcare are more than doubling their office space with a revolutionary new infection prevention super hub due to open February 2021. GAMA are one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies and the office move is a major investment in their training, research and product teams.
“We are growing rapidly and putting the profits back into the company to build a new infection prevention solution super hub. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that infection needs to move beyond healthcare, it needs to be part of all of our daily lives. We started this company to help keep people safe from infection within hospitals. By reinvesting, we’re able to do more to keep people out of hospital in the first place. We’re helping keep people safe at work, in schools and at home,” says managing director and co-founder Dr Guy Braverman.
The new facility will be built to accommodate their long-term rapid growth with a completely agile design as the company transitions to an entirely new way of working. Leading office design company Oktra are helping GAMA make the switch to agile work practices and are responsible for the design and build of the UK super-hub as well as the design of GAMA’s new Chinese office.
Located in the Maylands Building at the centre of Hemel Hempstead’s business district, construction on the 20,000 sq ft workspace is due to begin mid-October. The fit out includes complex structural works as Oktra will be cutting through the slab to open and connect two consecutive floors, as well as installing two floating boardroom-style meeting rooms.
The super hub is designed around GAMA’s people and priorities – sustainability being a key focus for the business. The IPC centre is designed to help the company achieve ISO 14001, the leading environmental management accreditation, and Oktra’s in-house sustainability team are helping GAMA successfully reach the standard by managing both Ska and Fitwel certifications. GAMA’s new workspace will also feature environmentally-minded materials and a meeting room dedicated to sustainability.
“The design isn’t just revolutionising the standard for creative workspace in the IPC sector – it’s making this super-hub as connected and easy-to-use as possible, bridging the gap between home and office working on an international scale,” says Laurence Shanks, design director at Oktra. The workspace features a state-of-the-art AV and technical package that will help keep GAMA teams connected whether they work in the office, at home or in another country. “It’s an agile, forward-thinking space that’s fit for the future, not just for now,” Shanks concludes.
