Continued growth in e-commerce and rising expectations from consumers for speedy deliveries, sees DPD agree a lease to occupy M&G Real Estate’s prime last-mile logistics warehouse, Orbital 48, in Dartford.
Parcel service operator, DPD has taken a 10-year lease at Orbital 48, a 47,888 sq ft new build distribution unit in Littlebrook, Dartford. Orbital 48 boasts direct access to Central London via the A2, A20, and A13, and is in proximity to the various ports and airports catering to the South East and London supply chain, as well as being situated within a 30-mile radius of 4.7 million households.
Tim Harding, an Associate Director in Colliers International’s Industrial & Logistics team said: “This deal demonstrates the continued robust demand for prime last-mile logistics space across the South East and UK as a whole. Dartford is not only a key logistics location for the South East and London areas but also has access to a pool of specialist labour, with recent research showing over 35% of jobs in the area being distribution-related.
“The demand we are seeing for greater adoption of online commerce is expected to remain strong, and as consumer expectation for speedy deliveries continues to rise, it has never been more important for last-mile logistics operators, like DPD, to secure prime locations where they can quickly and efficiently deliver to the end consumer.”
Colliers International acted for M&G Real Estate on the letting, alongside joint agent Glenny.
