A Government minister will be visiting the city next week to discuss the role business has to play in equality.
Jo Swinson, the minister for women and equalities, will be speaking at the ‘Business is Good for Equality’ event at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, October 30.
The event, from 7.45am until 9.45am, will underline the role business has to play in equality issues and will also look at the latest legislation when it comes to discrimination in the workplace.
Swinson has already spoken out against quotas for the number of female board members in a business and Angela Tellyn, of the Chamber, said it should be a thought-provoking event.
She said: “We are delighted that Jo Swinson can join us for the Business is Good for Equality event.
“It’s open to business people from across Coventry and Warwickshire and will get to the heart of what role businesses play in improving equality in society.
“I know Jo has strong views on quotas for women in the boardroom and it will be interesting to see how that section of the debate pans out.”
