A state of the art, 57,000 sq ft manufacturing and design facility is set to be constructed at Birmingham’s Advanced Manufacturing Hub (AMH) after Barberry Industrial was selected as preferred developer for the site by Birmingham City Council and Homes England.
The West Midlands-based property investor and developer was selected after a competitive bidding process.
Barberry Industrial development director Jon Robinson said the company had acquired the site anda detailed planning application has been submitted to Birmingham City Council.
Construction could start on site before the end of the year, with practical completion expected in Q3 2021. The development is expected to attract investment to the region and could create up to 250 jobs.
Barberryhas a 3.3 million sq ft industrial/logistics development portfolio with a Gross Development Value of more than £398 million.

The new development will provide the occupier with a state-of-the-art facility with easy access to the M6 and Birmingham city centre. It is also expected to attract further investment to the region, generate further economic growth and new jobs for the region.
“We have worked hard and invested heavily to create a Barberry brand in the mid-box industrial/logistics market, providing high quality buildings for occupiers, built to an institutional acceptable specification. It is therefore hugely satisfying to know that the quality of our developments is recognised.”
Councillor Ian Ward, leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “This is a huge vote of confidence in Birmingham’s economic recovery and means jobs and investment at a time when they are sorely needed.The Advanced Manufacturing Hub continues to be a real success story, with major occupiers such as Hydraforce, Guhring, Mayflex, Y International, and Salts Healthcare, creating over 1,500 jobs.

Last year, Barberry developed a 65,000 sq ft unit at the AMH for occupier Mayflex, which agreed a 10-year lease on the unit.
It’s been a busy year for Barberry. It recently announced it is developing a £40 million state-of-the-art aerospace manufacturing and design facility for a global leader in aerospace engine and flight controls systems in Gloucestershire. The 184,000 sq ft centre of excellence for Moog’s Aircraft Controls Segment will be built on a 10-acre site at Ashchurch, Tewkesbury. It is believed to be one of the biggest deals of the year in the manufacturing sector.
Barberry has a 3.3 million sq ft industrial/logistics development portfolio with a Gross Development Value of more than £398 million. The company is also delivering student accommodation and residential schemes worth in excess of £200 million and has 528 acres of strategic development land, with a development land value of £262 million, across 14 sites under its control.
