No one could have foreseen the events of 2020 as following months of upbeat commercial property market activity the lockdown hit us all, bringing uncertainty to many individuals and businesses across the UK. Keygrove Chartered Surveyors have kept busy throughout and have had the pleasure of completing on two gym lettings during the lockdown period.
Whilst the operators were initially unable to open to the public, both saw the opportunity to take on new premises and get ready for when gyms could re-open. Unit 28 Shamrock Way, Hythe Marina Village has been leased by Victory Lap who are a personal training studio and 5 Waterloo Road, Shirley has been leased by One21, a personal training operator who specialises in one to one training.
Lauren Udall, Surveyor with Keygrove says: “It is really positive to see new small businesses open for health and wellbeing activities. Bearing in mind the situation that was faced by the fitness industry in March this year, seeing the entrepreneurial spirit and business plans of both of these companies has been uplifting.
“The prominent unit at the entrance to Hythe Marina Village had been vacant for years prior to Keygrove’s marketing and this is the fourth recent letting Keygrove has successfully completed in this locality. 5 Waterloo Road, Shirley is in a prime location either for local residents to ‘walk to gym’ or with easy access for motorists from the Millbrook dual carriageway. Hopefully this will encourage the local residential catchment to get fit”.
