The numbers all add up to a staggering amount for a Coventry trainee accountant.
Natalie Essex, who works at LDP Luckmans in Queens Road, has just beaten an astounding 31,700 students from across the globe to finish top in the F8 Audit and Assurance exam run by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
The 22-year-old from Walsgrave achieved a 92 per cent pass rate to finish top in the exam which covered general auditing and assurance by studying in her own time and attending college courses at BPP Birmingham.
Natalie, who studied for her accounting and finance degree at the University of Warwick, admitted she was stunned when she was told the news.
“I found out by text that I had achieved 92 per cent which I was really pleased with but I was shocked when I was told I had come first among students who had taken the exam throughout the world,” she said.
“I thought the exam had gone well but I didn’t expect it to have gone so well. I feel really happy to have achieved the mark.”
Steve Twigger, partner at LDP Luckmans, said the company was extremely proud of Natalie’s achievements.
He said: “We are absolutely delighted for Natalie because we know how hard she has worked. I have never known or heard of anyone achieving such a feat but considering all the effort she put in, I shouldn’t have been too surprised.
“To have beaten students from China, Singapore, India and countries in the Commonwealth is fantastic and I have no doubt she will continue to show the same level of commitment to the rest of her exams in her steps to becoming a fully qualified accountant.”
