Just for Pets appoints Carter Jonas in hunt for new store locations

Award-winning national pet retailer Just for Pets has revealed plans to open several new stores across the central region.

Just for Pets has transformed since its acquisition by Pedigree Wholesale Ltd, a family owned established distributor of nearly 50 years in the pet industry, in October 2017. Following a comprehensive business review that included the rebranding of existing outlets and a number of re-launch events, Just for Pets now trades from 16 locations to include Bentley Bridge Retail Park, Wolverhampton; Arena Park, Coventry and Three Counties Retail Park, Malvern and is celebrating the turnaround of the business back to profit in its second full year of trading.

A physical store presence and building relationships within local communities is an integral part of the Just for Pets strategy. The business offers an increasing number of in-store services and prides itself on the quality of advice across the broad range of specialist Pet products.

As part of its strategy for growth, Just for Pets is expanding beyond its current geographic reach into areas including Bristol, Oxfordshire and Staffordshire. Carter Jonas’s Bristol based Commercial team is leading the search for suitable retail units of 2,500- 4,500 sq ft with good access from main roads and customer parking facilities. Roadside, retail parks and garden centre locations will all be considered.

Stuart Williams, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas, said: “The success of Just for Pets is an extremely positive retail-expansion story, demonstrating how brands can create a focussed physical offering driving loyalty to physical stores. They are passionate about pets and making sure households have access to the best knowledge, advice and in-store experience, whilst the team continues to invest in supporting the local community.

“This announcement will come as welcome news to many landlords who have seen several significant occupiers leaving locations as the impact of changing consumer habits and current trading conditions, in light of the pandemic, continue to make their mark. Twenty towns are being considered to include Oxford, Stroud, Witney, Redditch, Cheltenham, and Bristol. The presence of Just for Pets would prove a positive addition to many shopping locations, and we look forward to working with the team, helping to find the best spaces from which they can continue their success.”
