Wilford Lane Developments Limited (WLDL) – a JV between Kuwaiti developer / investor Salhia Real Estate Co KSC and Simons Developments Ltd – has secured detailed planning permission from Rushcliffe Borough Council for a convenience food store-led commercial scheme and outline consent for 267 apartments in West Bridgford, Nottingham.
The 12-acre site was acquired by the joint venture from Sainsbury’s Plc in Jan 2019 and the estimated gross development value of the scheme is over £70 million.
The scheme includes a 22,000 sq ft food store pre-let to Lidl, other retail units targeting regional and local businesses, a gym and a Starbucks drive-thru coffee shop, together with 267 one, two and three bedroom private and affordable apartments. Construction work is scheduled to take 12 months for the commercial element.
West Bridgford is one of Nottingham’s most sought-after neighbourhoods and the site is located on Wilford Lane, within easy reach of Nottingham city centre.
Frank Gillespie, Development Director at Wilford Lane Developments, said:
“We are delighted to have secured planning permission for this scheme and will be looking to bring the development forward, as soon as it is safe to do so, and in line with Government guidelines.
“We have substantially pre-let the commercial space to Lidl and Starbucks and are currently in talks with a number of potential occupiers to take the remainder. On the adjacent site we will look to deliver the 267 outline consented much needed apartments including affordable housing.
“Overall, the development, once operational, will create approximately 80 new full and part-time jobs, 267 new homes for the area with every effort made to ensure as many of those new jobs as possible go to local people.”
McMullen Wilson and Colliers International are commercial letting agents with Bidwells acting as agents for the residential scheme.
