Nuneaton MP Jones meets business

Nuneaton MP Marcus Jones has asked business people in North Warwickshire to “stop being so modest”.

Jones was speaking to a range of businesses at the Chamber’s North Warwickshire branch.

The event allowed the Nuneaton MP to hear the issues and concerns of businesses in a range of sectors including logistics, law, construction, finance, tourism, medical and IT.

He updated the Chamber members on the recent cabinet reshuffle, and said that the area had to make more of its successes.

He said: “Everyone is aware how tough times have been in recent years but, that said, I see some very positive developments and successes in Nuneaton and North Warwickshire.

“It is incumbent on me as the local MP to highlight and champion those successes, but I also think that the business community needs to do more to foster and build a positive agenda by telling people of our successes.

“I don’t think that is in our nature here in Nuneaton but we maybe need to stop being so modest. In this day and age it can help shape the image of an area. We have some impressive successes – and we need people to know about them.”

Stewart Fletcher & Barrett partner Paul Carvell, chair of the North Warwickshire Branch, said the session, hosted by A R Cartwright, had allowed businesses to raise some valuable points.

“It is essential that our region’s MPs hear first hand the issues and concerns which affect businesses every day.

“The Chamber has always sought to establish and maintain strong links with our representatives in Westminster and this was a really valuable exercise.”
