The Mears Group, one of the UK’s leading housing and care providers, has taken 3,094 sq ft of quality office space at the popular Calder Park in Wakefield.
Mears, which works in both the private and public sectors, has signed a nine-year lease with breaks at years 3 and 6 at a market moving rent for the first floor of Unit 5, Calder Close.
Sam Jamieson, of global property consultancy Knight Frank in Leeds, who represented the landlords, commented: “This is the second deal we have completed at Calder Park within the past two weeks, which is tremendous going and a resounding endorsement of a first-class business park.
“These are challenging times for everyone, because of Covid-19. But it is important to remember that deals are still being done and that the property market hasn’t completely ground to a halt. This is an exciting move for the Mears Group and will enable them to expand their business in Yorkshire.”
Calder Close forms part of the Calder Park Business Park at Junction 39 of the M1 motorway in Wakefield. It is two miles from Wakefield city centre and 15 miles to the south of Leeds.
A representative of the Landlord said: “This successful deal not only reflects the location and quality of Calder Close, but also the hard work and expertise of the Knight Frank office agency team in Leeds.
“As landlords, we are delighted that a company of the calibre and reputation of the Mears Group has chosen our development as their new office headquarters in Yorkshire. We wish them the best of luck.”
A representative from Mears Group said: “We are delighted to be moving into these high-quality offices, with 10 secure parking spaces, in such as excellent location. The transport links, which are vital for a company like ours, are first-class with swift access to the M1 and Yorkshire’s superb motorway network.”
