A major online auctioneer is set to expand in Stockport following a cross-country collaborative deal brokered by joint agents Innes England and Matthews & Goodman.
Simon Charles Auctioneers and Valuers, one of the biggest auction centres in the north west, has acquired an 11,024 sq ft unit on Bredbury Park Industrial Estate for a six-figure sum from East Midlands-based manufacturer CAME BPT.
It will be the third site in the area for the auctioneer, which sells on average 12,000 products a week to the highest bidder, both live and online.
Scott Osborne, associate director at Innes England, who acts for the vendor, said: “Knowing the local market is a key element of achieving the best result for clients and, while we work right across the UK, having a trusted partner on the ground in the north west definitely adds value.
“We know Matthews & Goodman as we’re both members of the Property Agents Independent (PAI) network. The member firms are privately owned with a track record of building first-rate relationships in their regions, so we were confident that by working together we could achieve a successful outcome for all parties.”
David Newman of Matthews & Goodman added: “It’s been great to be involved with the sale of this modern industrial building that suits the needs of the buyer, with good office space and a separate trade counter entrance. It’s well located on one of south Manchester’s principal estates, close to the M60 and Simon Charles’ head office.”
Simon Rothwell, managing director of Simon Charles, said: “We believe Stockport is becoming a thriving business area with a fantastic local workforce to support it.
“The safety of both our staff and customers is our utmost priority. Once the current lockdown period comes to an end, we are determined to ‘Get back to Business’ stronger than ever and rise to the challenge these unprecedented times throw at us.”
Chris Wilson, finance director at CAME BPT, said: “The unit in Stockport has served us well for many years and the sale allows us to consolidate our operations to provide a more efficient service to our customers. David and Scott worked well together to get the deal completed as smoothly as possible and we were very pleased with the service.”
