LabTech, owner of Camden Market, has announced the signing of four new retail operators to Buck Street Market, setting the benchmark for London’s first eco market. Latest retailers include sustainability focused lifestyle retailer, Londonworks; male grooming brand, Sweyn Forkbeard; handmade babywear retailer, Dress Up Baby; and souvenir traders, To Home From London.
The four retailers will join over 80 other food and retail brands, all committed to sustainable practices and processes, setting a new standard for eating, drinking and shopping in London. LabTech’s commitment to sustainability at Buck Street Market includes the use of 88 recycled shipping containers to house the market, recycling points set throughout the destination, zero-plastic on-site, and composting food waste from the food and beverage traders to generate energy that will be fed back into the power grid to produce electricity.
- Lifestyle retailers, Londonworks, are set to open a dedicated 900 sq ft space to ‘slow fashion’ within Buck Street Market, offering trend-lend clothing, music, home décor and contemporary inspired gifts. Londonworks will stock a number of sustainable brands, such as Conscious Step (an organic, vegan, fair-trade certified sock brand) and Colorful Standard (Danish, EU made clothing that uses 100% organic cotton), also currently available at their Chalk Farm concept store.
- Sweyn Forkbeard, the male grooming brand that shares its name from the first Viking of England famed for his eternally immaculate hair and beard, are to open their sixth market space in London, taking a 74 sq ft site at Buck Street Market. With over 125 male grooming products on offer, each item is certified 100% organic, with a percentage of profits donated to local charity; Camden Giving.
- Handmade babywear retailers, Dress Up Baby, will open their third London market space at Buck Street Market, in addition to their present unit within Camden’s Stables Market and Spitalfields Market. Offering bespoke clothing, accessories and toys for babies and toddlers, produced with natural materials such as linen, merino wool and cotton, the brand will open its 74 sq ft of space.
- To Home From London, the handcrafted London souvenir specialists, are set to open their third Camden store within Buck Street Market later this year. Offering authentic gifts ranging from magnetic coasters to eco-bags featuring the iconic Camden Town underground roundel, To Home From London’s latest 74 sq ft site will join two bricks and mortar spaces currently operating within Camden Market, as well as stalls at Camden Lock Market and Portobello Market.
Maggie Milosavljevic, LabTech’s Retail Commercial Director, commented: “At Buck Street Market we are committed to delivering a revolutionary space that prioritises environmental education, conversation and positive change. The launch of Buck Street Market will be followed by the opening of Hawley Wharf Camden; a 580,000 sq ft mixed-scheme development due to open later in 2020. Hawley Wharf will deliver a unique Camden-style ecosystem for visitors and workers to enjoy.
