A new £12 million care home development in Northamptonshire has hit a new high – and has also seen two local good causes benefit.
Midlands-based Deeley Construction is building the new 66-bedroom nursing home in Turweston Road, Brackley, on behalf of Kingsley Healthcare Group.
The development – which will create more than 100 jobs when it opens later this year – has reached its highest point in the build and a traditional topping out ceremony was held to celebrate.
Representatives from Brackley Athletic FC under-9s Girls and 5th Brackley Scout Group – both of which have received £500 each from the companies behind the development – attended the ceremony.
Peter Deeley, managing director of the Deeley Group, said: “We are thrilled with the progress of this scheme on behalf of Kingsley Healthcare Group and it is great to reach the highest point of the development.
“It has been a very strong partnership and, ultimately, that will bring great community benefits – not only providing a much-needed care home but also creating a significant number of jobs.
“On top of that, we were delighted to welcome Brackley Athletic FC and the 5th Brackley Scout Group to the topping out and it is great to be able to support two great local groups which are committed to giving local young people great opportunities to be active.”
The development will feature modern en-suite bedrooms and living space for residents as well as communal facilities such as a cinema room, library, café, hairdressing salon, quiet lounges and a conservatory.

Fifth Brackley Scout Group was established in 1953 and moved to its present home in Beaumont Crescent, Brackley in 1959. It has 147 active members and offers a range of activities to boys and girls aged five to 14 on a weekly basis.
The funds will go towards refurbishing the scouts’ meeting place after it was the subject of an arson attack.
Bim Prentice, Group Scout Leader, said: “On behalf of 5th Brackley Scout Group membership, I would like to thank the Deeley Group and Kingsley Healthcare for their very generous financial donation.
“It will contribute greatly to the refurbishment of the Scout Meeting Place and in turn, enable the Scout Group to continue to provide Scouting opportunities for current and future Brackley and surrounding district youngsters and their parents.”
Brackley Athletic FC is an FA Standard Chartered club and has around 200 players registered, supported by 30 coaches and a further eight volunteer committee members.
The under-9s girls team was formed in June and has had a very promising first season playing five-a-side in the Northamptonshire Macron Women and Girls League.
Coach Victoria Sillett said: “We are very grateful for the donations which have paid for the team’s kit, training tops and hoodies. We have 13 players in the squad which shows the need to establish a team for girls at this age group and they all needed kitting out.
“We are the largest community football club in the area and support such as this means everything to us as we are all volunteers offering football to as many local children as possible.”
